This month, Marisa Home Care officially celebrates 10 years as a premier home care business based in Southfield, Michigan. Locally owned and operated by Christopher Corbett, Marisa Home Care has carved out a uniquely successful presence by doing business differently.
“We’re not part of a national chain,” says Corbett. “We are small enough to be flexible and personal. Everything we do is for the comfort of our clients and peace of mind for their families.”
“I am very proud of Marisa Home Care’s reputation. When we were voted “Best Home Care-Metro Detroit” it was because of how we treated our clients and caregivers, and that is still what keeps us going today.”
In appreciation for the community’s ongoing support, Corbett’s team created a free gift for clients and followers that includes vital information for living long, healthy lives. It may be viewed or downloaded at www.marisahomecare.com/CELEBRATE.

Sticking to what works and providing custom care has been the key to Marisa Home Care’s steady growth and regular, repeat business. Personally coordinating hospital and home care services for a local resident whose only family lived in France; running an important errand for a client’s out-of-state son; walking a dog daily so a client could keep her pet; and flying live lobster in from New England to grant an elderly client’s wish – these acts of service illustrate how Marisa Home Care goes above and beyond to provide the personalized, boutique care each client may need or request.
Making miracles happen is all part of the job for the team of Marisa professionals who work together to keep each client comfortable and living in their own home for as long as possible. The hands-on management of Chief Operating Officer Jessica Strichartz and Clinical Director Michelle Corbett, R.N., the highly skilled administrative staff, and the compassionate dedication of Marisa’s caregivers are at the heart of everything Marisa Home Care strives to provide.
COVID-19 and the future
Relying on teamwork was integral to maintaining services when Metro Detroit was hit hard by the coronavirus in 2020.
“Behind the scenes, we scrambled to rearrange caregiver schedules and handle an increased caseload while satisfying CDC requirements for COVID-19,” Chris states. “Last year threw every business on its head, but it also made us better, more efficient, at what we do.”
Despite the pandemic, Marisa Home Care’s employees acted as true professionals and stepped up to offer the same, exceptional level of customer service during some very difficult days. Continuing to meet and exceed the needs of current clients will always be the company’s #1 priority.
Corbett is actively looking to hire additional caregivers as life returns to a ‘new normal’ in 2021. As Marisa is a Southfield business serving the tri-counties, Chris appreciates the city’s centrality, safety and business-friendly economy. Happy with Marisa Home Care’s word-of-mouth growth and respect within the industry, Corbett expresses his belief in work-life balance and the philosophy that will fuel the goals of his company’s next 10 years:
“I’ve never really been interested in being a $20 million company. As a smaller business, we can focus on integrity and personal service. I don’t want to lose sight of what we’re here for and who we’re helping. Franchises become so big they’re encumbered; Marisa Home Care is sized to really care. We’re better, not bigger, and we’re serving our community.”
